Our first anniversary

Hello, everybody! Sorry if it got a little too quiet over here; I have missed you all and will start catching up with your blogs and comments soon, I promise! ;) I needed to devote some time to other things and will still need to focus my energy and time to studying and trying to look for a job, but of course, I'm not going to neglect my little blog; I love it and you too much to give up on it, that's for sure ;).

So, it was our first wedding anniversary this past Saturday, and to celebrate it, we went to Catalina Island.

I can't believe a year has flown by so fast! For those who are unfamiliar with our story, let me tell you that David and I met on MySpace over 4 years ago and had a long-distance relationship for 3 years and 3 months. During that timespan David went to Buenos Aires 3 times and I visited him here in California once. Our "dating" stage consisted of only 30 days of living together in hotels and houses that we rented, as well as daily phone calls, e-mails and text messages, naturally. It took us over a year to prepare the necessary paperwork to be able to move and bring Dimitri, my cat, with me.

In one year, we've learned that we really get along and are happy living together. So far (knock solid wood!), we've never had a fight; which doesn't mean we agree to everything the other says, of course. We're very similar and have always managed to cope with our little differences.

It's been fun to discover mutual likes and dislikes. For instance, we found out our favorite toilet paper is Paseo lavender-scented, haha, and that America's biggest beer brands do not make the best beer in the market. A little question to you, Americans, why the hell do people here love Coors and Bud's light version??? They're way too flat, in my opinion.

I could list hundreds of other things we've learned together, but I don't want to bore you ;). Let me just say that all in all, this has been a great year and I am very happy to be married to such a great guy. I think that if you marry the right one, marriage isn't difficult at all :).

OK! Now on to our weekend in Catalina Island! I took a lot of photos, but again, I don't mean to bore you, so here are some of my favorites.

The downtown area is really small and can be walked within a couple of hours, literally. There are several shops and cool restaurants by the beach and the water is clear and blue :p.

Architecture is much more interesting than this side of California. The town is built on hills and mountains and the houses are colorful and beautiful.

 

I love the way the islanders decorate their homes with signs and objects; some of them look like stores.

Most people get by with golf cars, and if they own a real car it's typically a tiny model such as the Smart Car or the Mini. We saw a few Minis which had the steering wheel on the right.

It's a very nice place to visit even if you go for just a day. Oh, and on our way there (from Newport Beach), we got to see dolphins and sea lions, so cute! :)
