DIY: Christmas ornaments

Hello, everybody! Are you ready to put up your Christmas tree, yet? I was going to wait till December 8th, since that's when we start putting up the Christmas decorations in Argentina, but I think we might start preparing everything this very weekend. Today I embellished some transparent balls, so I thought I could share the process with you through a very simple DIY. This is a no-brainer, really; but anyway, here it goes! :p

The tree that we bought is kind of small, so I bought small balls, too. I wanted transparent ones, but they only came in big sizes :/. I got these ones instead, which are ok, but have a pearled shade I don't like much.

 

So, these are the materials I used:

- Transparent Christmas balls.

- 2 bags of 10mm pom poms.

- 1 bag of 5 mm pom poms.

- Colorful construction paper.

- A shredder.

- A hole punch.

- A bow craft punch.

I bought the balls, the bow punch and the pom poms at Michaels. And I'm pretty sure you can find everything at Walmart, too.

First off, you need to remove the metal tops off the balls, which can be done without trouble ;).

And then fill them up with whatever you want! 

I tried different combinations. I filled one ball with red and green pom poms, I mixed a couple with both big and small pom poms and then I filled one with only white pom poms. 

 

I filled the rest of the balls with bows ...

Shreds of paper ...

And paper dots (that I made with the hole punch).

Putting the metal top back is a piece of cake :p.

Inspiration: Like white canvas

As you probably already know I love color. I never pay much attention to white because it's kind of dull ... no? Well, not really, but you know what I mean ... right? I rarely wear it because I feel too exposed when I do; dang! I even got married in black!

These past few weeks, though, maybe because of the fact that winter is approaching, I've been attracted to photos and clothes where white is the predominant color. Also, I think I'm in need of some sort of "new beginning". I need to to approach certain issues differently and allocate my energy and focus more wisely; and for some reason, white conveys the idea of cleanliness, starting fresh, seeing things from a different perspective, at least to me. 

So, that was my explanation of why I chose white as the star of this post :). This attitude totally calls for a much needed haircut, I know! But I'll put that on hold just for a little bit.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday adventures

Hello, everybody! I feel as if I hadn't been here in like forever. I have to catch up with all of your blogs, but before I do, here's a glimpse at what we did on Thanksgiving and Black Friday :p.

On Thanksgiving we went to San Diego to spend the day with David's aunt's family. I finally tried turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie! :)

As for Black Friday, we didn't wake up early or have anything in mind, but we did check out some stores. Our most amazing find was these knobs from Anthropologie! We had seen them before but at $10 a piece, there was no way we would've bought them. On Friday, we found them at $2.50 each plus a 25% discount on that! :D This store didn't have the number of knobs we need for our night stands and dresser, but they're going to send the rest from a different store ... free shipping!

We also bought a couple of gifts there; this is the only one I can show you now ;).

We later got these comfy booties at Payless Shoes for $22; I really needed a pair of shoes :p.

I also got this dress online for less that $25 and free shipping. I can't wait for it to arrive!

We were going to check out a garage opener that was half the price that day at The Home Depot, but we got a flat tire on the freeway :/, bummer! Fortunately, we could park at a gas station and AAA arrived in no time. We're using the spare tire now, so we can't go far from home,  but at least we can get by locally.

Oh, before I leave this post, I'd like to show you one of my in-laws' neighbors' Christmas decorations. I say he's gone pretty nuts with putting up lights in the garden, look! Haha.

Something you probably don't care about: We finally went to the taping of an episode of The Big Bang Theory and it was awesome! :D Seeing all the actors in person made me happy; too bad cameras or cell phones were not allowed! We were sat facing the couch and were even fed with pizza, water and chocolate :p. Spoiler alert (!): In this episode Leonard stands up to a high school bully; it's very funny.

All right, folks! It's time to start getting ready! We're going to San Diego to spend Thanksgiving with the side of the family that didn't go to the Grand Canyon.

I'm "blank" because ...

Hello, lovely people! I just saw this post on Sandy's blog and thought it'd be fun to do it, too ;p. I'll mix it with pics I've been taking these days.

I'm weird because ...

- I love spending time alone.

- I'd rather listen to music than go dancing.

- I'm socially awkward.

I'm a bad friend because ... 

- I hate being on the phone or chatting :/. 

- I sometimes forget to reply their emails.
- I try to avoid going to events I know will make me feel socially awkward (Say, a party where I know I'm going to be the third wheel).

I'm a good friend because ...

- I'm a good listener (I guess, ha).

- Knowing that they're happy makes me truly happy; even when they're way happier than me.

I'm sad because ...

- I couldn't take my mother to Europe. It was a promise I'd made, but unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to carry this out.

- My father is far away, my sister is taking care of him on her own, there's nothing I can do from here to help, and on top of that I'm happy ...

I'm happy because ...

- I'm with my better half <3.

- Life's been very generous to me.

- The FOCL (Friends of Ontario City Library) have nominated me to be their vice president (can hardly believe it myself!).

- I've had the chance to bring Dimitri, my cat, from Argentina.

- Today we're going to the set of The Big Bang Theory.

I'm excited for ...

- What's to come.

- Spending Christmas with my husband for the first time; and in winter!

-  Starting a new year.
