Happy Halloween!

We haven't decorated the house for Halloween or are going trick or treating with the kids tonight (we were going to, but I'm feeling poopy, boo). However, I put these little bugs together this weekend and I dropped them at the library and in my neighborhood a few hours ago :p.

I had had this kit for a long time and I figured Halloween was a good time to finally use it. The bugs didn't come out spooky at all, but I used them anyway.

Contrasts: candy

This weekend, David and I went out for a meal and to the movies to see Puss in Boots. We had been craving candy for a while, so right before we went into the movie theater, we grabbed some colorful candy at Sweet Factory. (Yes, we sneaked candy we bought outside the theater)

First off, it was a rip off! We're never ever going to buy sweets there again. I won't tell you how much we spent for these 2 bags, because it's embarrassing :/. We had no idea it was going to be so expensive.

The good thing about this store, though, is that you can grab assorted sweets and choose the colors you like, hehe :p. This was my chance to try candy I'd never tried before.

From the bugs, I think I prefer the gummy worms. The rat is too hard to bite and chew, haha. The centipedes are cool, too.

This was my first time eating jelly beans; I really like them, especially the red ones, yum!

I grabbed one sour belt because I like the fact that it looks like bacon :p. I only bit it and left it; not my taste.

The classic gummy bears :p. I didn't know they made baby bears, too! Cute! By the way, this store also sells giant gummy bears.

I really love these chocolate rocks; they're swell!

I also enjoyed these chocolate + mint treats even though I'm not big on mint.

I grabbed several sprees because David had told me they were really good, but I find them too sour.

Last but not least, here's a jawbreaker. I still haven't tried it, it looks scary, haha.

Well, I guess this is a proper post on the eve of Halloween, right? ;p

My name is Courtney from Feminine. Unique. New. Something wonderful happened to me yesterday that gave me a brilliant idea. Do I have any snail mail lovers out there? 

 

I would venture to guess that everyone loves getting letters from a friend, the more unexpected the better! And so I'm writing to tell you to be the writer and send someone you love a special note, a picture, a collection of cute items, or something simple you know they'll love.

 

Someone did that for me yesterday and it made my day. Can you guess who? Yes, it was the lovely author of this adorable blog. Thank you Miki for the package, the awesome music, the cute bookmarks, and the sweet note you sent me.

I am blessed to call you friend. 

Blast from the past

Yesterday my mother-in-law picked me up from the library and I spent the day at my parents-in-laws' house. By the end of the evening, she gave me a big box containing little old treasures because she thought we should have them now :).

It has lots of things David made for her as a child as well as report cards, diplomas and his baptism's clothes.

I'm thrilled to have all these things with us now! :) I couldn't have possibly brought my little relics from my childhood, so it's nice to have at least David's.

Since this is a post dedicated to the past, I thought I could also show you these crappy pics of me when I was 3 and 4. Can you tell it's me? Haha.

And this is one of my favorite photos of my mom; it was taken when she was in her early twenties. My sister and I found it after she passed away.

Do you keep stuff from when you were kids?

I'm now thinking it'd be a nice idea to bring some of mine when I go back to Buenos Aires to visit :).

Annual sale

Hello, everybody! Hope you've started the week with a smile! This past Saturday we had the big annual sale at the library; it was a lot of work to move all the material from one place to the other and back to the warehouse, but it was a success, so it was all worth it :p.

I was surprised to find that people were no longer interested in best sellers such as "Eat, Pray, Love", all the "Twilight" books, and all of Sue Grafton's to name just a few. I guess readers get their favorite titles as soon as they are released and they get rid of them just as fast; we have a large number of best sellers that are quite new.

And I was not surprised at all to see that we're still stuck with lots of books by Baldacci, Cussler and Patterson, haha. We sold lots of videos, audio books and encyclopedias, which is great because they take up a lot of space.

 

 

I spent a total of $4 on stuff for myself :p. I finally decided to get the book with all of Jane Austen's novels.

I also bought 2 audio books: "The Metamorphosis and other stories by Franz Kafka" and "The Odyssey". I have over 10 hours to listen to :p.
 

I got the latest issues of Vogue, Allure and the July issue of Elle.

As for the rest of my weekend, well, I got sick again (so what else is new?!) :/. We did grocery shopping and I couldn't help bringing these mini pumpkins with me, hehe. Does anybody know how long and at what temperature I am supposed to bake them? ;)

David barbecued beef, chicken and corn and we drank Guinness.

We started looking into colors to repaint our bedroom walls because they're a bit too dark. So far, light blue is our stronger candidate.

 

And last but not least, we spotted these 2 little fellas in our garden, hehe.
