The house felt a bit lonely and I was bored, so I asked some buddies of mine to pop up to make myself company. This is what happened.

They started taking over the house, so I had to kick them out. Haha, just kidding!

I hate having medium length hair

I usually feel tempted to have my hair cut very short again, but at the same time, I want to let it grow so I can experiment with cool hairdos. This length right now when it's not short, nor long, just sucks. There's not much I can do with it (my sister would disagree, though, but I don't have the skill to do anything with it aside from a boring pony tail), so I've been looking into accessories to wear to make my head look a little less boring.

I don't think I'd choose to get hair extensions even if I could afford them, but I'm kind of curious about braided hairpieces, to be honest with you. The other day, I discover over at Chrissy's blog that there are feather extensions, how cool is that?! I'd seen many feather headbands and clips, but not extensions. Anyway, all this preamble just to show you some awesome Etsy stores where you can buy adorable accessories to embellish your hair, whether it's long, short or medium length ;).

If you like chewing your pen, you'll love this device designed by Dave Hakkens. You might need a separate pencil case for it, though; because I don't think anybody would like to suck a candy pen that tastes like eraser leftovers or pencil shavings .... (That is, if your pencil case is a mess like mine).

Weekend photo dump

This weekend was GOOD; yes, in capital letters :). First and foremost, David got Friday off, so it was a long weekend to us :D (All weeks should have a three day weekend, if you ask me).

On Friday, I got my new glasses! I love them. I mean, it's awesome to wear contacts, but the truth is that glasses are more comfortable (to me) when using the computer or watching TV. Since we bought everything in the same store, we got these frames for free, yay! :P

We also went to the post office to drop a bunch of envelopes. I couldn't help taking a picture of the P.O. Boxes there.

We finally found an adorable record player; I'm very excited! I can't wait for the records we ordered to arrive! :P



We had some yummy dinner in a restaurant. (Yes, that's not all we ate; it's just water, hehe). Oh, and we watched a movie at home. If I say "Bed, Bath & Beyod" and "VO5 Hot Oil", can you guess what movie we watched? :)

On Saturday, the weather was lovely and we went to Claremont. We didn't bring any records home, unfortunately, but we did load our stomachs with Chinese food.

Sunday consisted of lots of cleaning and doing nothing. We didn't have chocoloate eggs, just muffins and coffee.

Library finds (both cool and odd)

You would be amazed by the amount of both cool and odd stuff I've been running into at the library I'm volunteering. This library gets a great number of donations every single day which makes our job amusing.

If you ever decide to donate your books to the library, make sure there're no personal notes or pictures hidden between pages! I'm sure you wouldn't like a stranger to find something like this:

It's normal to get whole boxes from one single donor. When that happens, it's usually because someone passed away and they're trying to get rid of the late person's bookcase. Going through those boxes is kind of a scavenger hunt; there're usually autographed books and first editions!

Speaking of the deceased, today I found one of the strangest and creepiest objects. This looks like a book but it's a journal (I don't know what else to call it) of a person's funeral! :O

These are the attendees' signatures ... why would anybody have something like this?! And even worse, donate it to the library! Brrrr!

On a brighter note, there are several classics and best sellers, so I totally recommend checking your local library book sale area before you go to a book shop. Here, books range from 50 cents to 2 bucks, and magazines are 10 cents.

You can even find books you didn't even know existed, hehe.

And more than just books! This, for instance, is a record collection.

Being that everything is so affordable, I've been bringing lots of stuff home. I'd love to buy every single book with a kitty on its cover, like these ones, but I'm trying to restrain myself :p.

And these are some of the ones that did make it home :).

The other volunteers recommended going to the Huntington Library a few weeks ago and on Monday, we found this little book from 1963 about it :).

Being that I'm new here, I find these magazines useful to get to know the city a little better. I'm writing down the names and addresses of the places I want to visit :).

My stash of fashion magazines to make collages is growing very rapidly!

I've also found something for David, hehe.



And for one of our nieces :).
