Calico Ghost Town + giveaway winner

Last Sunday, we went to Calico Ghost Town, one of Southern California's greatest producers of silver in the  late 1880s.

With its 500 mines, Calico produced over $20 million in silver over a 12-year span.

When silver lost its value in the mid 1890s, the miners abandoned the place and it became a ghost town. Walter Knott (yes, the creator of Knott's Berry Farm!) purchased Calico in the 1950s and restored its buildings to look as they used to, originally.

There are lots of stores and activities to do. The picture below is the town's old school.

A peek through its window.

The view is amazing!

We took a little tour on Maggie's Mine and a ride on the Calico-Odessa railway.

We had a great time there :). If you're going, too, put on a hat, comfy shoes and get ready to walk uphill!

And the giveaway winner is :) ...

Teryn!!! :D
