Contrasts: Italian vs contemporary American restaurants

Italian food

Place: Buca di Beppo in Ontario, CA.

Description: cool and cozy trattoria. This is the one chain of restaurants that I've really liked so far (I usually prefer places that are not chains). The atmosphere is warm and cramped, but in a totally cool way.

Even in the bathroom there's a lot going on on the walls!

They have a varied menu; lots of pasta and pizza, naturally, as well as antipasti and desserts.

Entrees are over $20, but they are very abundant. We shared our orders and had the leftovers for dinner the next day.

All in all, it's a great restaurant to go have a meal or just enjoy some drinks at the bar.

Contemporary American food

Place: Magnolia in Hollywood.

Description: it's an ideal place to grab a bite before clubbing (and some drinks, too!). The decoration is simple and pleasant to the eye, kind of European, I'd say.

Prices are affordable and the food is abundant and delicious. My veggie burger was $11 and David's turkey club sandwich, $9.

They even have Tanqueray 10, David's favorite gin to make Martinis (that's what he ordered). And my "punch of the day" turned out to be really good; it was sangria, according to the waiter, but it didn't taste like it.

I totally recommend going to this place, too!

Is there any pub or restaurant you love going to?
Do you know any within California? ;)

Hope you're having a great day! It's raining here; perfect weather to saty home and have tea :D.
